ISLAND DETAILS, REIMAGINED

Jana and Feng’s wedding at Princeville Makai Golf Club was designed as a celebration of place—colorful, organic, and deeply connected to the natural beauty of Kauaʻi. With the Pacific stretching beyond the ceremony and the lush landscape of Princeville surrounding their guests, we wanted the design to feel as though it belonged effortlessly within the island itself.

Rather than simply incorporating traditional tropical motifs, we looked to familiar Hawaiian elements and found unexpected ways to bring them into the celebration. Large tropical leaves became natural chargers beneath each place setting, while fresh coconuts were transformed into playful escort cards. Even the lei—a symbol so closely tied to Hawaii—was reimagined as a floral detail worn with the bride’s wedding gown, allowing a beloved island tradition to become part of her bridal look in an entirely new way.

That same spirit carried into the reception, where warm coral, papaya, cream, and fresh green were layered through tropical florals, fruit, foliage, and natural woven textures. A sculptural rattan chair was unexpectedly transformed into a cake display, turning a familiar piece into one of the celebration’s most playful design moments. Against the ocean and mountains of Kauaʻi, the result felt vibrant without being overly tropical, playful without feeling themed—a celebration that could only have belonged to Jana and Feng, and could only have happened here.
