Shi and Qimeng’s wedding unfolded at The Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island, a setting where architecture and landscape exist in quiet conversation. With celebrations here exceptionally limited, the sense of privacy and stillness became an important part of the experience—and of the design itself.
The day began with Chinese wedding traditions set within the Reserve’s Japanese Garden, bringing together different cultural influences in a setting defined by nature, restraint, and thoughtful composition. From there, the celebration transitioned into a Western garden ceremony surrounded by sweeping lawns, mature trees, and the estate’s elegant architecture.
For the ceremony, we intentionally resisted creating a traditional floral arch. Instead, low garden-inspired arrangements framed the aisle and ceremony space while leaving the view completely open. The landscape became the backdrop: nothing competing with it, and nothing separating the couple from the beauty of the setting.
Soft blues, lilacs, peach blush, ivory, and garden greens continued into the reception through loose, romantic florals and refined tablescape details. The result felt intimate and deeply connected to place—a celebration where Chinese tradition and Western ceremony existed naturally alongside one another, and where thoughtful design allowed an extraordinary setting to remain at the center of the story.
